Chunky gaming laptops have had a resurgence because recent GPUs generate less heat. Acer’s Nitro (see our review, Issue 566, page 25), Asus’ TUF (Issue 582, page 22), Dell’s G series (Issue 533, page 23) and HP’s Omen (Issue 548, page 23) start at under £1,000, but rise steeply. At £1,500 plus, Razer’s Blade (see Issue 585, page 25) tries to keep performance portable, while more cash again gets you the likes of Dell’s Alienware m15 (www.snipca.com/35543).
The m15 is among a minority with 4K screen options, in this case from £2,589. The default is Full HD, with more attention to refresh rate than colour quality.
