AS a young man with only a dream of achieving success and his father’s blessings, retired Professor Jairam Reddy embarked on a three-week voyage from South Africa to the UK in pursuit of becoming a dentist.
This would lead the 88-year-old, of Musgrave, to achieve greater success than he expected, as he later held positions, including as a senior lecturer, dean and vice-chancellor at universities in South Africa.
In addition, he played a pivotal role in teaching young people from around the world on how to become leaders.
He shared his journey which started from humble beginnings.
Childhood
Reddy, the ninth-born of 11 children, lived in Roosfontein, Westville, before his family moved to Wyebank.
