AirDrop is a good example of how Apple’s ecosystem “just works” across its devices. Yet that selling point might have lost some of its shimmer, as Google has managed to get AirDrop to work with Android phones, seemingly without Apple’s help – and possibly even without its knowledge. In a blog post, Google explained that QuickShare – Android’s own version of AirDrop – can now send files to an iPhone, with the iPhone user being able to receive the file through the AirDrop interface. Apple has named the best App Store apps and games of the year across a range of categories and platforms. When Apple switched from Intel processors to its own chips in 2020, the difference was night and day. Apple silicon provides far more performance and does so with much lower power consumption, noise and heat levels. So it might sound odd to hear that Apple is considering switching back to Intel chips, but that’s the claim from Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. Yet things aren’t quite what they seem.
