The proportion of Windows computers running Windows 11 has fallen for the second successive month, having risen for most of 2024.
It peaked in October at 35.58 per cent, but fell to 34.94 per cent the following month, then 34.14 in December.
The figures, from industry analysts StatCounter (www.snipca.com/53400), show that Windows 10’s market share rose during the same period from 60.95 to 62.70 per cent. This followed six months of consecutive decline where Windows 10 fell from nearly 70 per cent.
It suggests Windows 10 is being used on roughly one billion of the world’s estimated 1.6 billion Windows computers, even though Microsoft plans to end support in October.
