As the yard awakes from its winter slumber, even homeowners without a green thumb should give landscaping a spring refresh. First, clean up winter residue, removing leaves, pine needles and dead annuals. Pick up pinecones, which can take years to fully decompose. Rake the lawn to fight against fungus growth, thatch and decomposing items left over from the fall. Prune perennials, shrubs and trees.
