EIGHT IS ENOUGH QUITE AN ARMFUL Time to lend a hand … or an arm! A pair of artists recently created a huge sculpture of an octopus that sits outside a building in New York City. Stretching almost as long as a school bus, the bronze octopus holds an endangered species in each of its arms—including an elephant, a rhino, and a gorilla. Called The Arms of Friendship, the artwork is meant to remind passersby that many of the world’s creatures are in danger of extinction. The sculpture will remain in place until July 2025. Until then, people are invited to walk among the octopus’s long arms, admire all the creatures, and even take a seat on the artwork to get a totally different perspective of it. Sit and stay awhile!
