Replacing your iPhone’s battery can be an exercise in frustration – but not if a reported change comes to the iPhone 16. According to The Information, Apple is working on a new system that will let you use a small jolt of electricity to pop out your iPhone’s battery, making the whole process significantly simpler. That’s a very different system to what exists now. Current iPhones hold their batteries in place using adhesive strips, which can be difficult to work around. The Information says that Apple’s new system, though, would house the battery in a metal case, which would lift up the battery when a small dose of electricity is applied to it. Siri has been lagging behind its rivals for years, so there was great excitement at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June when it was announced that the virtual assistant would be getting a major overhaul, finally giving it the shot in the arm it’s long needed. Yet a new report claims we’ll have to be patient in order to see its new features. According to Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman, none of Siri’s new tools will be available when iOS 18 and macOS Sequoia launch later in 2024. You may own a vintage Mac, iPhone or iPad that’s still capable of running essential software. You may also find you can stream services and use web-based apps and may decide to stick with what you have for a while longer. But be careful.
