The most impressive thing about this action-RPG is that it simultaneously manages to be both dauntingly deep and entirely throwaway.
There’s an intimidating mass of menus to explore before you set off on Monster Hunter-esque missions to carve up and harvest ferocious beasties. Your weapon is confusing enough, with three main forms (melee, ranged, and shield), each with subcategories, and oodles of individual variants. That’s not to mention bullet types and elemental effects, Blood Arts, Blood Rage, upgrade parts, Link-Supports, crafting, personal skills, team-building, consumables – you get the idea.
