Pornhub, the UK’s most popular pornography site, will soon introduce age-verification checks to stop children watching sex.
Aylo, the site’s parent company, confirmed it will comply with Ofcom’s new rules, which force all adult sites to use “highly effective age checks”.
The measures, due to be implemented on 25 July as part of the Online Safety Act, also cover social media, search and gaming services that provide access to sexual content.
Other sites that have said they’ll start checking age include LiveHDCams, RedTube, Tube8 and YouPorn.
Pornhub didn’t say how it would verify age, but methods used by other sites include photo ID, credit-card checks and using a phone app to estimate age.
