For example, you can create a simple countdown or even make numbered files or directories in the system. This will be a live environment, which will allow you to test the OS prior to installation, but first you need to create the bootable media. DVD BOOTABLE MEDIA We’re using a Windows 10 PC here to transfer the ISO to a DVD. As long as you’re using a version of Windows from 7 onward, the process is extremely easy. Coding on Linux Installing Linux in a Virtual Environment With Oracle’s VirtualBox now up and running, the next task is to create the Virtual Machine (VM) environment into which you will install Linux. This process won’t affect your currently installed operating system, which is why a VM is a great choice. CREATING THE VM There are plenty of options to choose from when creating a VM.
