It’s no secret that the great collective eye of boaters remains focused upon outboard-powered boats of every description. While that’s been going on, watersports boats powered by V-drive inboard engines and also by sterndrive variants have advanced by leaps and bounds, albeit largely unseen by the great majority of boaters. If you count yourself a boat aficionado—and we know from many years of your correspondence and from meeting many of you on the water and at boat shows that you do consider yourself boat nuts—well, you owe it to yourself to see these boats up close and personal. They really are special. Start with a dockside look. The striking lines of most watersports boats represent more than just aesthetics. The shapes are derived from the boats’ mission requirements, one of…
After working in the sunglasses industry for so many years, what made you decide to start Bajío? Our goal is to use business for good. We saw an opportunity to create a new sunglasses brand that would enable us to do that, so we went for it. What sets Bajío apart for boaters and anglers? There are three key things that make Bajío different: One, we have developed a truly revolutionary lens that reduces blue light. This makes things exceptionally clear and enables you to see deeper into the water column. Two, we have a strong focus on sustainability. Our case is made of cactus leather. Our packaging is made from recycled paper. Our frames are made of 65 percent plant-based material. And we have been carbon-neutral since inception. Three,…

Vicem Yachts’ 37-foot center-console is the first in its new Tuna Master series of center-console and express sportfishing boats. The lead production manager, Yigit Arkbarlas, says the builder’s belief that starting—and eventually growing—the new range at the 37-foot size gives boat buyers “a perfect platform for fishing with friends, cruising with family or both.” Arkbarlas also explained how Vicem worked diligently on weight distribution to provide a range of power options.
