Google Earth now has a time-lapse tool that lets you see in seconds how the planet has changed over the past 37 years.
It’s part of the biggest update to Google Earth since 2017 and has been built using more than 24 million satellite images, representing “quadrillions of pixels”. In total around 20 petabytes of data (20 million GB) was used to make a “video mosaic that’s the equivalent of 530,000 videos in 4K resolution”.
