This autumn, the Windsors bade an emotional farewell to Katharine, Duchess of Kent, who died peacefully, aged 92, on 4 September.
As if in tribute to a woman who had worked tirelessly to brighten others’ lives, sunshine flooded Westminster Cathedral for her funeral, which was attended by every senior royal with the exception of the Queen, who was recovering from illness.
Katharine’s 90-year-old husband, Prince Edward, Duke of Kent, was supported by their sons – George, Earl of St Andrews, and Lord Nicholas Windsor – and their daughter, Lady Helen Taylor, as well as their ten grandchildren.
